INTRODUCTION

The Amateur Radio Operator Certificate has the following qualifications:

  • Basic (access to all except HF amateur bands) (Basic with Honours - 80% or higher mark on the exam allows access to HF)
  • Advanced
  • Morse Code (5 w.p.m) (access to all HF amateur bands)

An examination for the Basic qualification must be passed before an Amateur Radio Operator Certificate is issued. Certificate holders may then be examined for additional qualifications in any order.

There is no age limit to obtain the Amateur Radio Operator Certificate. Holders of this certificate may operate stations in the amateur radio service.

Holders of the Amateur Digital Radio Operator's Certificate are given equivalency for the Basic & Advanced Qualification.

Amateur Radio Operator Certificates do not expire. These are valid for life.
